Look: White Sox fans still hate former Cubs star Javy Baez

Javy Baez hit another home run against the White Sox, and was sure to let the opposing dugout and fanbase know about it.

Baez, now of the Detroit Tigers, spent plenty of time in the Windy City with the Chicago Cubs to start his career. Now in the same division as the White Sox, Chicago baseball fans are readjusting to seeing Baez on a regular basis, this time always on the road team.

White Sox fans have never liked Baez. Forever the little brother to the Cubs in Wrigleyville, the Sox are like the eternally jealous stepchild that never quite gets what they want.

Sunday afternoon’s game was a good example. A strikeout of Baez would’ve been nice. Instead, Javy took Michael Kopech deep, and flexed to the fans.

Baez watched that one fly out and took his time rounding the bases. While the Sox dugout didn’t seem to have a problem with it, the fans sure did.

Give the man his title belt.

Tigers try to take series from White Sox in Chicago

Contrary to popular belief, Detroit’s offense has actually been pretty good as of late. I don’t want to jinx it, but Riley Greene’s been a catalyst of sorts, getting on base and driving in runs like a seasoned veteran at the top of the lineup.

Winners of six of seven games, Detroit is over the .500 mark since mid-May. A 9-23 start likely doomed their season, but it’s nice to see some progress in Baez’s first year in MoTown.
